Ask Nova about your money in your own words. It answers from the records you keep in Northwise, and every suggestion it makes waits for your review. It never moves money.
Asking a question

From the menu, the Ask Nova card on Overview, or Ask Nova about this page in Plan & AI tools on any screen.

Type, or tap a suggestion
Start with “Where did my money go this month?”, “Pay off debt or save first?” or “What bills are coming up?”.

Press Enter or the send button. While Nova is answering, the box waits, so a question is never sent twice.
Where answers come from
Signed in
Nova sends your question and a summary of your records to an AI model through Northwise’s own server. Northwise works the figures out first, so the answer quotes the same month outlook you see on Overview. Private goals are left out of the summary.
Local mode, or when the service is down
Nova answers on your device with its own rules. Nothing leaves the browser. If the service could not be reached, Nova says so and offers Try the service again.
Each answer says which of the two produced it. To answer on the device only, turn off “Use authenticated AI for reviewed drafts and chat when available” in Settings. What is sent, and to whom, is in the privacy policy.
Anything you type into the conversation may be sent, including a name or a note. Keep account numbers and passwords out of it.
Questions that work well
- Am I in the positive this month?
- Can I afford a $300 purchase this week?
- Why is my spending higher than last month?
- Which bills are due before my next paycheck?
- Which debt should I pay down first?
- When was my last paycheck, and when is the next one?
If a bank has stopped updating, Nova says from which date its figures stop, so you know how fresh the answer is.

- Suggested categories for transactions that need one. You can correct each before applying it, and ask AI to improve the suggestions.

- Say whether each transfer out was saved, a debt payment, a bill or a move between your accounts. More
- Who sends you money
- Say which senders are regular income. This list is never sent to the AI service.
- Money observations
- Things worth a look, each backed by your records.
- Undo last tagging review
- Puts back the categories a review changed.
Reviewing suggestions
A suggestion is a draft. It fills in a form; you decide what is saved.
- Only the rows you tick are saved. Everything else is left as it was.
- Change a suggested category before applying it if it is wrong.
- Tick “Always categorize descriptions containing …” to turn a fix into a rule for future transactions.
- Linking a transaction to a goal or debt never changes a balance.
- If your records changed on another device while you reviewed, Northwise asks you to refresh rather than overwrite them.
What Nova will not do
- Move money, make a payment or contact your bank.
- Recommend investments, or borrowing to close a gap.
- Promise it is right. Answers can be mistaken; check the figures before acting.
