SOMETHING
NOT RIGHT?
Most problems have a quick fix. Find yours below. If it is not here, signed-in testers can use Send feedback in the app.
Signing in
“Northwise is in a closed test” after I signed in
The address you signed in with is not on the test list, and nothing has been stored for it. If you were invited with another address, choose Sign out and use that one. You can still try Northwise with “Continue without account”.
There is no way to sign up with an email and password
While the test is closed, new accounts are made with Continue with Google, using the address you were invited with. Accounts that already have a password still sign in with it.
I forgot my password
Choose “Forgot password?” on the sign-in screen and follow the link sent to your account email.
Loading and updating
“We couldn’t load your workspace”
Northwise already asked again for anything that failed, and still could not read it all. Nothing in your account has been replaced. Check your connection and choose Retry connection. “Open separate local workspace” opens local mode instead; it does not hold your account’s records.
My bank has not updated
Open Settings › Profile › Connected Banks. Each bank shows when it last updated and, if an update failed, why. Choose Sync now. If the bank asks you to sign in again, choose Reconnect. Updates also run about every six hours and when you open the app.
A bank shows “Sandbox connection — sample bank data”
That bank is connected to Plaid’s sample bank, which returns made-up records. During the closed test most connections are made this way. See Banks during the closed test.
The same bank appears twice, or “Already connected”
Northwise refuses to add a bank that is already linked, so nothing is duplicated. To refresh its sign-in, use Reconnect on the existing bank.
Figures that look wrong
The month outlook seems off
Early in the month the verdict is a rough guide. Open “How this is worked out” to see every figure. Then check that transfers are placed (Where transfers go), that people who send you money are settled (Who sends you money), and that your bills are on Bills & Calendar.
A transfer is counted as spending, or not counted
Tell Northwise what it is in Plan & AI tools › Where transfers go: savings, a debt payment, a bill (rent sent by Zelle, say) or a move between your own accounts. Northwise remembers it for that destination.
A transaction has the wrong category
Choose its category on Transactions and pick the right one. Leave “Always” ticked to fix every transaction with that description.
A bill I paid still shows as due
Northwise marks a bill Paid when it finds the payment, matching by name or by amount and date. If your bank describes it very differently, or the amount changed a lot, it may not match yet. Check that the bill’s name, amount and date are close to what your bank shows. A payment your bank sent back (returned soon after at the same amount) does not count, so the bill stays due.
Every amount shows as dots
The privacy screen is on. Turn it off on Privacy & Safety, or with the button in the top bar.
Records and setup
My local records are gone
Local records live in one browser, at one address. A private window, another browser, another device or cleared site data starts empty. If you exported a backup, keep it safe; signing in does not bring local records into your account.
I want the demo back
Until you add a record of your own, Overview offers Back to the demo. After that, Settings › Data & Privacy › Reset Demo Data replaces this browser’s records with the sample ones. Export first if you want to keep yours.
The welcome tour or the Getting started list is gone
Settings › Profile › Replay the tour opens the tour again. If you hid the list, Show the checklist brings it back to Overview.
A Getting started step will not tick off
A step counts only when its record exists, and never while demo records show. Choose Start with my own numbers first. Asking Nova counts once you have sent a question of your own.
Still stuck? Signed-in testers: Send feedback in the app. Your balances and transactions are not attached.
